Edmund Sun has founded several high-tech companies， including Weitek， C-Cube， DVS， Jeecom and C2 Microsystems. Weitek， C-Cube and DVS have all made public offerings and are listed on the Nasdaq market. The companies he lead invented the world’s first MPEG encoder chip （C-Cube） and the first VCD player （DVS and Wanyan Electronics）. He has published 35 research papers in academic journals， and has been awarded 12 US patents on semiconductor and MPEG technology. Dr Sun has received the only “Lifetime Achievement Award’s the Western DVD association， the Distinguished Alumni Award of Taiwan Jiaotong University and several Emmy Awards.
Dr Sun has a Bachelor degree from Taiwan Jiaotong University， a Master’s degree and a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering， Physics and Economics from the California Institute of Technology.
