Deepa Sankaran

Deepa Sankaran joined Darby Asia Investors in August 2006 and is responsible for building and managing Darby's initiatives in India.

Ms Sankaran has 16 years of experience in the financial sector of which around 13 years have been in private equity. At Darby， she manages the investment activities of Darby Asia Mezzanine Fund II in India and advises Franklin Templeton Private Equity Strategy， a domestic private equity initiative which she spearheaded jointly with Franklin Templeton.

Prior to joining Darby， Ms. Sankaran was Associate Director at IL&FS Investment Managers Limited （IIML）， one of the largest Indian private equity fund managers， where she joined as part of the original team that was set up for its private equity practice in 1997. During her tenor in IIML she was involved in a wide range of investments across sectors and has also been instrumental in some successful exits. From 1994-1997 she was an equity analyst at Corporate Database， an equity research firm offering investment advisory services to Institutional investors on Indian securities.

Ms. Sankaran holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Madras and completed a one-year Special Management Program from the Indian Institute of Management， Calcutta.
