Ben Yu

Ben Yu started his career as a researcher and system architect， contributing pioneering work on 10 Gb Ethernet at 3Com and a 100 Gbps optical switching system at Princeton University. Combined with almost a decade of venture experience， Ben relates well to entrepreneurs and inventors who are addressing the hardest problems. Ben Yu is a Managing Director of communications and semiconductors investments at Sierra Ventures. Ben also leads Sierra’s investment practice in China. He has led the Firm’s investments in Applied Microstructures， AuthenTec （NASDAQ: AUTH）， Digital Media Group， Gobi Partners， InvenSense， mSilica， Micro Power， Multigig， SemEquip （acquired by Ceradyne）， VeriSilicon and Verari. He served on the Board of Paracer （acquired by Stratos Lightwave） and SyChip （acquired by Murata） and he is actively involved in current Sierra investments in Element Labs， Eltek Valere and Novariant. Ben’s current Board seats include Applied Microstructures， InvenSense， Multigig， mSilica， 800APP， Novariant （Observer）， Verari （Observer） and VeriSilicon.
