Hanson Cheah

Hanson Cheah holds a BS and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Management Science from Stanford University. Hanson focuses on investments in Wireless， Electronics and IT Services sectors. From 1989 to 1991， Hanson worked for Sun Microsystems as an engineer and project manager. Hanson also worked for Messerschmidt-Bölkow-Blohm （MBB） in Germany and France as a research engineer while completing his master’s thesis. From 1991 to 1993， Hanson was a Manager at technology management consulting firm Pittiglio Rabin Todd and McGrath in California. From 1993 to 1995， Hanson helped build the first overseas plants in Malaysia and China for Solectron and served as Operations Manager and Business Unit Manager. Prior to co-founding AsiaTech Ventures， Hanson worked as the Regional Portfolio Manager and Indonesian Country Manager for private equity firm Transpac Capital from 1995 to 1997. Hanson is now a co-founder of AsiaTech Ventures together with James Yao. He is mainly responsible for investments in Hong Kong and in the Pearl River Delta. He also serves as the current Chairman of the Hong Kong Venture Capital Association.
