Dr. Qian received his bachelor’s degree in physics from Beijing University， China. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan. He holds 40 patents， and is the author of nearly 100 technical papers.
Dr. Qian serves as vice president and general manager of AMEC’s Etch division. In this capacity， he has overall responsibility for the development and commercialization of the company’s Etch product line.
Dr. Qian has more than two decades of technology and leadership experience in the semiconductor equipment industry. Prior to AMEC， Dr. Qian spent three years in Novellus Systems’ surface integrity and HDPCVD groups， where he led new product development activities. Before that， he spent 12 years at Applied Materials， where he was responsible for silicon technology and product development. Before Applied， Dr. Qian spent three years as a research associate at the University of California， Berkeley and Santa Barbara.
