Mark works alongside the Chief Investment Officer and is based in Beijing. He is a member of all of Actis’s investment committees and his principal roles are to review and advise on all investment decisions. He also oversees investment activity in China.
Mark joined Actis in 1999 as a Senior Investment Professional and completed a number of deals， including the consolidation of three retail chains across four countries in Central America and a pioneering MBO in Mexico. He then became the Head of the Consumer Business team， leading its successful MBO and expansion capital investments in Africa and India.
Prior to joining Actis， Mark worked in Retail and Investment banking with Barclays and BZW， before being seconded to Baronsmead Private Equity Managers. From there he became the Founding Director of Barclays Ventures， managing three regional offices.
Mark holds a first class honours degree in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University.
